About Utah’s EMS System
The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) is the lead agency for Utah’s EMS system and medical response. The BEMS is housed within the Utah Department of Public Safety in the Bureau of EMS. To ensure constituent input, the BEMS has three statutory committees, three subcommittees, and various task forces.
In Utah, the REPLICA legislation was signed into law on March 21, 2016, making Utah the fifth state to enact the EMS Compact. Commissioner Dansie was seated to the Interstate Commission for EMS Personnel Practice at the inaugural meeting on October 11, 2017.
